Saksham Special School is an institution that provides a range of services for children with special needs. The school aims to help these children develop their academic, social, and vocational skills through various programs and interventions. Some of the services offered by the school are:
This program is designed for children aged 3 to 6 years who have developmental delays or disabilities. The program focuses on enhancing the child’s cognitive, motor, language, and sensory skills through individualized and group activities.
This program is for children aged 6 to 14 years who have learning difficulties or disabilities. The program follows the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) – Open Basic Education (OBE) curriculum and provides individualized and group instruction in core subjects such as Hindi, English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.
Through NIOS we provide flexible learning to our students which helps them to choose the subject / courses pace of learning. From registration, teaching at the individual level, providing notes, taking mock test, revision, prelims, we prepare our students for the final exam.
We provide basic computer knowledge to the students according to their age which helps them to understand how computers function and how to use them it includes the ability to use a keyboard, mouse, turn a computer on and off, keyboard shortcuts , typing, connect to the internet, operating system, word processing, spreadsheets, email etc.
This program is for children aged 14 to 18 years who have intellectual disabilities or autism spectrum disorder. The program focuses on teaching the child functional skills such as personal hygiene, money management, time management, communication, and social skills.
This program is for children aged 18 years and above who have intellectual disabilities or autism spectrum disorder. The program prepares the child for vocational training or employment by teaching them basic work skills such as following instructions, completing tasks, working in a team, and maintaining quality standards.
This service is for children who have social or emotional difficulties or behavioral problems. The group therapist facilitates sessions that aim to enhance the child’s self-esteem, coping skills, problem-solving skills, and peer relationships.
This service is for children who have difficulties in performing daily activities such as self-care, play, and schoolwork. The occupational therapist assesses the child’s strengths and needs and provides interventions to improve the child’s sensory integration, fine motor, gross motor, visual perceptual, and cognitive skills.
The school offers dance sessions once a week. Children interested in dance join in, learning with joy and enthusiasm alongside their studies. This keeps them excited throughout the week, boosting their communication, social skills, imitation, and self-confidence.
We have regular sports activity in the school which includes group and individual sports. It helps our students in improving their strength, stability, motor planning, social skills, communication skills, scenes of belonging and self esteem. It also improve cognitive function making it easier to retain information and maintain attention span.
